Regardless of how goofy we look in the photographs here (we were a little giddy from all the excitement), last week was HUGE for the TPS Photography team!
Cathy flew to Canon Digital Learning Center in Costa Mesa, CA to teach a class for Canon USA on Extreme Sports Portraiture, and Ben and I gathered up some awards at the Professional Photographers of North Carolina annual convention (Carolina Photo Expo) in Research Triangle Park.
To be asked by Canon USA to teach a class is an enormous honor...one that very few photographers will ever experience. Canon only selects the best-of-the-best as their instructors. Cathy did an awesome job with the class, and was invited back to teach there again in November!
Ben took home the PPNC President's Award, which is given to the highest print score average for a first-time print competition entrant, and one of his photojournalism images won second place and another one earned an honorable mention in the PJ category!
I had lots of my deep-space astrophotography images earn merits in print competition, but I also won first place with my album of images from commercial photography we have created for EJ Victor, Ralph Lauren Home, Kate Spade, Kelly Wearstler, and Perennials Social furniture.
Needless to say, we all returned to the studio a little pumped. We're always trying to one-up each other...so this level of competition between us ultimately benefits you as our clients. And, of course, bragging rights at the studio don't hurt, either ;-)
