In our next installment of photos for Work In Burke, we visited Oak Hill Iron and watched some very skilled blacksmiths and artisans created works of art out of iron and wood. Oak Hill Iron and Wood has two locations: the workshop in Oak Hill and a storefront in downtown Morganton. Founded by Dean Curfman, the company creates beautiful works of iron and wooden art by utilizing traditional blacksmithing methods that have been around for hundreds of years. We got the pleasure of photographing and interviewing Dave, a young blacksmith who works at the Oak Hill workshop. Sara and Josh had the most beautiful fall wedding at First Baptist Church in Morganton, NC last October. The most special thing about sharing her journey with her is that I got to photograph TWO sisters in one year: Sara's sister Catherine in the spring (go WCU cats!) and Sara's wedding in the fall. Their family is so lovely, warm, welcoming, and kind and it was truly a pleasure to be their wedding photographer. Her wedding was decorated in hues of dark green and purple, with a fashionably chic and modern feel. Sara's dress had a Gatsby feel with a modern twist, while she carried a classic bouquet of garden roses and dahlias (created by Garden Gate Downtown floral shop). Josh and "the boys" looked very dapper and suave, wearing classic and sleek black tuxedos and bow ties. Check out how beautifully Sara's vision turned out through some of my favorite photos of her wedding day!
Sara and Josh's wedding in Morganton, NC at First Baptist Church
Sara and Josh got married at a beautiful fall wedding during October of 2017 at First Baptist Church in Morganton, NC. They had a lovely reception at the Old Armory Building, decorating with hues of forest green and wine. Thank you for choosing TPS Photography for your wedding day; we had such a wonderful time sharing your wedding journey with you, Sara and Josh! Best and warmest wishes to you both for a long and happy marriage!
One of the most successful craft breweries in North Carolina is located here in our hometown of Morganton, NC. Catawba Valley Brewing is well-known throughout the state and was created in 1999. Since then, they've created well-known craft brews like Farmer Ted's Cream Ale, White Zombie, Peanut Butter Jelly Time, and more. When we got the call to do marketing photos of the flagship brewery for Work in Burke, we were thrilled. Work in Burke is grant-driven collaborative campaign through Burke Development, Inc. and Western Piedmont Community College, created to illustrate the myriad of employment opportunities and jobs that Burke County has to offer. Check out some of the photos from our shoot and stay tuned for more photos from other exciting employers around our county. Our business relies on referrals, for both our portrait photography and our commercial photography. Without partner companies who trust us to complete a job and to do it better than most, we would have a more difficult time maintaining a solid business. One partner company in particular who has "had our back" on several projects over the past few years is Morganton's own VanNoppen Marketing. In their own words, "VanNoppen Marketing is a full-service, award-winning marketing, graphic design, website development and digital marketing firm dedicated to elevating clients through smart, creative and strategic excellence and killer ideas." Their services include website design and development, graphic design, logos, branding, print design, advertising, PR, digital marketing, Adwords, social media marketing, ecommerce, and much, much more.
As is the nature of their business, great photography is a key component of marketing for many of their clients. Since working with VanNoppen, we have also gone on to make business partnerships with many of the referral companies. A few of the companies you might recognize include:
EJ Victor Furniture
Burke Development, Inc.
We will actually be featuring some of these companies in blog posts in the near future, so stay tuned!
In the mean time, we would like to personally thank Allen, Nancy, Jean, Danah, Isaac and Rob for their continued support and patronage! And for your own business marketing needs, be sure to visit their website at: https://www.vannoppen.co/
One of the things we do for our contracted high schools is service photography. This includes club photos, candid photos and sports events, to name a few. Last week, our trusty sports photographer, Ben Earp, was able to go to a conference wrestling match and get some great images from two of our schools: Crest and Kings Mountain. Here are a few of the highlights!
